Recycling materials are great but the fact that all synthetic fabrics release tiny plastic fibres during washing is NOT great. Microfibers that end up in our rivers and oceans harm the environment and are a huge problem considering climate change. The reduction of waste doesn’t end at our consumption but includes the washing routine! The solution comes from STOP! MICRO WASTE, a German Start-Up that developed this amazing GUPPYFRIEND Washing Bag. It is made of a specially-designed microfilter material to filter all the micro waste of your clothes.

With each wash, countless plastic fibres from synthetic textiles are making their way from washing machines into
rivers and oceans. Once in the environment, the microfibers concentrate pervasive bacteria and pollutants. They
are consumed by aquatic organisms, which can result in gastrointestinal infections and blockages, reproductive
problems, and starvation – problems that ultimately work their way up the food chain.

The Guppyfriend Washing Bag is a pragmatic solution to prevent microfibers from entering into rivers
and oceans. Its soft surface results in less fibre loss and thus extends garments lifetime. Those microfibers that
break during washing are captured inside the bag. The bag itself does not lose any fibres.

How it works:

  1. Put all your clothes made out of synthetic fabrics or blend fabrics into the Washing Bag.
  2. Close the bag via the zipper and wash as usual.
  3. Take out the wet textiles after washing and remove all the microfibers inside the GUPPYFRIEND and dispose of properly. If you live in Germany we recommend disposing of it in the residual waste.

Which clothes you should wash:

  1. Synthetic fabrics that are made out of 100% (recycled) polyester, polyamide, polyacrylic, …
  2. Blend fabrics that contain various amounts of synthetic fibres combined with natural fibres. Such as 5% elastane or 92% cotton mixed with 8% polyester etc.

Happy environmentally-friendly washing!

Size & Fit

Care

Do not put the bag into the tumble dryer • do not rinse under running water • do not overfill – the clothes need
space to move inside the bag • wash only clothes of similar colours together in the bag • anything sharp may harm
the material of the bag • put other textiles together with the Guppyfriend into the washing machine to avoid an
unbalance • do not iron (the crumpled surface is not a problem) • use only liquid detergents • do not dry in the sun
• remove coarse dirt and animal hair before washing • hand wash without the bag, but use the bag to filter wastewater
